Built by William Denny of Dumbarton in 1926 the classic passenger turbine steamer KING GEORGE V is pictured in September 1972 alongside Oban pier. The 782 grt vessel was owned and operated by David MacBrayne from 1935 until the amalgamation with the Caledonian Steam Packet company under the new name of CALMAC. She was withdrawn from service in 1974 and finally scrapped in 1984.
